Lunctime Lecture: The Great Nadar: Portraits and Perilous Adventures

13:15 - 14:15

Ondaatje Wing Theatre , Floor -2

Writer Adam Begley introduces the tumultuous life and astounding work of Félix Tournachon, better known as Nadar (1820–1910). The first great portrait photographer and an artist-entrepreneur in the style of Andy Warhol, he knew everyone worth knowing and photographed them all, conferring on posterity psychologically compelling portraits of Sarah Bernhardt, Manet, George Sand, Delacroix, Daumier, Doré and countless others—a priceless panorama of Parisian celebrity.
