Our historic staircase is based on examples found in Italian renaissance palaces. The redevelopment of the building reemphasises the staircase as a main route through the Gallery. Designed for its architectural beauty and a gentle climb, the stairs are tunnel vaulted with entrances marked by rounded arches. The top of the central flight has columns adorned with lions, eagles and rams.

Take a step into the future with us and name one of the steps in the central flight of this remarkable staircase for you, or your family, or in memory of someone dear to you. Namings are for a minimum term of ten years.
